What We Do

Ward 7 Arts Collaborative, Inc. (W7AC) uses its programs and services to maximize a deeper impact on the Ward 7 community and beyond. Our concentration is in five core areas.

    • Art Advocacy - We are the voice for creating and sustaining a community based cultural arts center of color. We seek to strengthen grass roots agendas through the artistic lens.

    • Art Education - W7AC facilitates free art programs such as Young Ladies of Deanwood, a Saturday art class. In addition, W7AC is in its third year of its all girls summer camp at IDEA Public Charter High School funded through an IMA grant. Continuing in its forth year in 2012, W7AC will host numerous black history arts programs for the Ward 7 arts community and beyond.

    • Showcasing - In collaboration with the new D.O.E.S government office on Minnesota Ave, W7AC has, and will continue to, exhibit group shows of local art in the community. This is an example of the community artists who have joined the group and have been given the opportunity to exhibit and market their work.

    • Youth Development - One of the many W7AC youth programs, done in partnership with the Planned Parenthood Ophelia Egypt Teen Center, is an artist peer matching public arts program and presentation for the community.

    • Capacity Building - To help local artists enhance their skills through marketiing, income revenue, and networking, W7AC provides training workshops and special assistance. W7AC through the years have created a colony of artists, who help one another, whether they are an up and coming new artist or a seasonal artist - everyone works together to maximize stewardship of our art.
